Fantastic Run by Mike Sawyer on a soupy
warm morning. Dew point comparable with the tropics and Mike wins the race
outright and
sets a PR by 10 seconds....... You can tell he has been training with Larry to run this kind of race
in the heat and humidity...... Great job Mike. |

Connecticut Valley Half run in Hanover NH -

1000 runners including individual, team, and relay teams showed up for this 4 PM
start with temps in the 90's and high humidity. A 600' descent over this rolling
course with plenty of water stops and crowd support including several residents
misting runners with garden hoses. This is a course for a PR - when the weather
is better! Course is very scenic with a finish on the college green and an
adjacent block party afterwards. As a fundraiser, this event raised over
$130,000 for the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth through registration and
runner sponsorship. |

- Ran a race tonight with my sister. This was her first race ever. Tough race
for me...I am in the middle of ramping up my marathon mileage, but a great
evening altogether. Loved the course, as it was held on the New Hampshire
International Speedway....I envisioned myself chasing my man, Jeff Gordon around
the track. Anyways, my sister smoked in her first race and I am sending along
both of our results. FYI...I wasn't good enough to race and run hard, but darn
it, we just had to beat the "sisters"...yes, nuns...in full habit. We just could
not let then beat us to the finish line...not offense to the "sisters" but they
were in full habit and we were, well, dressed to run! Great race and a fun
night.

Larry Olsen with a thirty-fifth
place finish in one of the toughest 10K runs in New England. This course
has one of the longest and steepest hills that brings even the best runners to a
slow forward motion by the top. Larry of course finished first in his
division and under the USATF guidelines for his age group.
