29th Annual Clarence Demar / Marathon / Gilsum to Keene, NH / Sunday September 24  - A field of three hundred and twelve runners in this race. Mike Carroll finishing fourth overall and second in his division.  John Brown finishing seventh overall and third in his division.  Looks like a terrific marathon for both of them with Mike averaging 6:31 and John 6:47.  And don't forget this was in NH not known as a flat and fast state..
From John Brown - Mike Carroll and I ran the Clarence Demar Marathon. There was a pretty good turnout, 312 runners, on this somewhat unseasonably warm and humid day. Course is pretty nice with lots of rolling hills. Nothing too severe but enough to keep you on your toes. After race spread included soup, bagels, cookies, crackers, brownies, bananas, orange juice, soda, and water. Massages and showers were also available.

Milford Road Race / 5K / Milford / MA / Saturday, September 23 -A cool damp day with drizzle and some light rain did not keep the runners away.  One hundred and sixty two for this race.   Not much information on this race yet.  I do know that there were TVFR volunteers on had for the timing of the race and at least seven of our club members running.  Brian Bell was the first TVFR across the line and it looks like he has been doing some speed work.  Elizabeth Morin was the first female TVFR across the line.

29th Annual MDI/YMCA Bar Harbor Bank & Trust / Half Marathon / Bar Harbor / ME / Saturday, September 16  - A field of three hundred and forty-seven runners in this race with our own transplanted runners Jean and Don Bell taking part and readying themselves for the Marine Corps Marathon in October.  Good job by Jean and Don being the trooper he is really hung in there.
From Don - Jean and I did the Bar Harbor Y 1/2 marathon Sat AM Jean did finish in front of me she ran very well. I have been bothered with a torn miniscus in my left knee and am just trying to get by for the Marine Corps the end of Oct. I plan on a 28-30 this weekend or as far as I can go. At the half a girl was wearing a "T" shirt that read Our Sport Is Other Sports Punishment. I never saw that before and thought it was pretty good and wanted to pass it along.

Medfield Day / 5K / Medfield / MA / Saturday, September 16 Fifty-nine runners in this local event / race.  Sunny and warm for this out and back run.  The first mile was downhill  making for a tough last mile on the way in.  I would say that the distance was off and that the actual distance was 3.2 to 3.25 miles based on my time and that of the first few runners.  However I will post what they gave me....

2006 Nahant 30K / 30K / Nahant / MA / Saturday, September 16 Two hundred and three runners in this race.  Sunny and mild for a mid-September day.  Temperature rose to the mid and upper 70's.  Mike Sawyer used this as a long workout / training run getting ready for his fall marathon.  I would call it a success as he finished third overall and first in his division.  Can you say "Ready"

Walpole Road Race / 10 K / Walpole / MA / Monday, September 4  -  A field of 271 with Kathryn Fetteroll taking first place in her division on a very challenging course.  Several small and moderate hills during the first five miles of this race with a long climb from five to the finish line.  A good turnout by TVFR.

From Martin - The 10K race began in front of Walpole High School and finished on the track behind the school. Course is a challenging one with several small steep and moderate hills throughout the first five miles. The last 1.2 miles is pretty much up hill from the center of Walpole until you enter the gate of the track. The weather was perfect for September with sun a temperature of 68, low humidity and a northerly breeze. Personally I had a good workout hopefully leading into a good half marathon this coming weekend. I was coming off two very hard workouts in the previous four days and wasn't expecting a PR but I wasn't disappointed with my time. A 6:58 pace for the 10K and just about a 6:50 pace for the middle four miles. Plenty of food, drink and raffle prizes following the race. Awards and times were quickly done for both the 10K and 5K race.

Around Cape Ann / 25 K / Gloucester / MA / Monday, September 4 -  A field of 700 runners with John Brown placing thirtieth overall and fifth in his division.  Don Basso placing four ninety-four and Andy Barron beginning a marathon program.  Way to Go Andy!!
From John Brown - Very hilly, challenging course including one short, very steep "you gotta be kiddin me" hill just past mile 15. Great marathon prep race. Lots of good post race refreshments including bagels, fruit, popsicles, hot dogs, and baked cookies.
From Andy - Well this was my first race in 4 months so I can't complain about the results. I felt pretty good up until 10 miles when my knee started to give me trouble. I walked the rest of the way but was still able to finish. I probably should have stuck to the 7k but I figure I would give it a gamble. This is a tough course with lots of hills a great run to get ready for a marathon. Hope all of your running is well and see you on the roads!

Charlton Old Home Day / 5 miles / Charlton / MA / Monday, September 4 -  Waiting for race details but Rich Allen had a very good race.
From Rich - This is one challenging course with many rolling hills. A nice steady climb for over a 1/2 mile on mile 2. And they save another rough hill for the last 1/2 mile of the race. It was a great day with the weather. The race started at 10:00 am, and though it started warming up the breeze was refreshing throughout. Keep this race in mind for next Labor Day. Lots of fun festivities afterwards. Also, it is a great spectating course. Jess was able to see me three different times without having to venture off all too far. But it certainly isn't a PR course.
