Clearwater 5 mile road race / Clearwater / FL / Sunday,
January 21
Haven't
heard from Mary on this one, but let me guess that the
weather was much warmer in Florida then it was here on
Sunday. Way to go Mary.

Boston Prep / 16 miles / Derry / NH / Sunday, January
21
Demetra, Sherry, and I went to Derry, NH on
Sunday to run the "moderately challenging"
Boston Prep 16 miler. As advertised, the course
is challenging, and very hilly. But the race is
well worth the price of admission and I would
strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a
challenge or preparing for a spring marathon.
The race support was excellent. Amenities
include a technical, long sleeve shirt, a
finishers medal, and plenty of food and drink,
which included pizza, chili, soup, cakes,
fruits, hot chocolate, water, powerade, and
more. The school was open so you could stay out
of the cold and wind until just before the start
of the race and had a warm place to return to.
And did I mention it was cold!!!! About 11
degrees at the start with 10-15+mph winds and
below 0 wind chills. What fun! I should mention
they did have one problem. The timing got all
screwed up. They initially posted incorrect
results then pulled them down when they realized
the winner of the race was in 7th place. The
first 50 were posted about 2 hours after they
finished, the rest appeared on coolrunning last
night. The times for many are still not correct.
My results are a little slow. Sherry and
Demetra's times are a little faster than their
actual times. Maybe official PRs (wink, wink,
nudge, nudge)?

Frostbite 15K / 9.3 miles / Raynham / MA / Sunday,
January 14
Four
hundred and fifteen runners in this race. Weather was
mild for mid January 40 degrees with a light drizzle
contributed to the large turnout. Mike Sawyer bettered
last years time by almost three minutes as he led the trio
of TVFR's to the finish line. Don Basso and Ted
Tyler both had excellent races to start off the 2007 racing
season.

Tom's Tavern Hangover Classic / 3 miles / Wrentham / MA / Monday,
January 1
From Harry
Jarvis - Joe Drugan Jaci, Jen and I ran this
race on New Year's Day in Wrentham in the
pouring rain. The results were not posted to
Cool Running and an e-mail to the sponsor went
unanswered so I don't have a lot of details. The
race was three miles. There were about 150
runners. Joe was third over all and first in his
AG. I was second in my AG. Jen was fourth woman
and second in her AG. Jaci had a good race
considering the weather. Double dipping was
allowed so Joe got two medals. The food was an
all you can eat buffet.
